They are watching over me,
and they can see when things may be off balance
at certain times in one’s life.
They always invoke a heartwarming smile within me.
I photographed them for the first time,
using my latest lighting gear,
for the sweetest, soft light.

Surf action photography for two days.
The waves were spectacular and wild.
And then, the pelicans arrived,
delightfully gliding over the horizon.
To me, the beauty of stillness
sometimes seems wilder than any action or storm.

On a morning stroll in the nearby San Elijo Lagoon,
we encountered this lovely friend.
All we could see in the beginning was his head,
so richly colored in the brightest fuchsia ever seen.
He swirled around,
and then sat on a branch,
posing for us in this beautiful setting,
reminding us to imagine
the abundance & lightness, the playfulness & creativity
we can choose and share in our life.
